ANTI-INFLAMMATORY EFFECT AND ANTI-OXIDANT EFFECT OF POLYHERBAL CHURNA IN POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME: AN IN VITRO APPROACH

Abstract

ABSTRACT:Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine syndrome affecting women ofreproductive age, characterized by hormonal imbalance, irregular menstrual cycles, andmetabolic disturbances. The increasing limitations and side effects associated with conventionaltherapies have led to growing interest in herbal and natural remedies. The present study focuseson the formulation and evaluation of a polyherbal churna composed of Triphala, peppermint(Mentha piperita), Centella asiatica, and Artemisia pallens for the management of PCOS.The selected herbs are known for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hormone-regulating, andmetabolic-enhancing properties. Triphala is widely recognized for its detoxifying and digestivebenefits, while peppermint aids in reducing androgen levels and improving hormonal balance.Centella asiatica contributes to stress reduction and metabolic regulation, and Artemisia pallensexhibits potential anti-inflammatory and endocrine-modulating effects.The churna was prepared by drying and finely powdering the individual herbal components,followed by uniform mixing in appropriate proportions. Preliminary evaluation includedorganoleptic properties, physicochemical analysis, and phytochemical screening to ensurequality, purity, and consistency of the formulation.
