The Commons Translation Series

Abstract

This paper introduces The Commons Translation Series, a public-facing extension of the QCG “Projection Is Not Generation” sequence (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.20044372). It develops a civic vocabulary for understanding AI-mediated dashboards, classifiers, metrics, recommender systems, risk models, and decision-support infrastructure as projection systems that can either support public repair or bypass democratic correction. The paper argues that public audit does not require technical omniscience, but does require shared language, public standing, contestability, projection humility, and protection of the commons as society’s generator-repair system.
