The Temporal-Somatic Floor of Adult Development: Why Self-Authoring Requires a Livable Present

Open access2 citations

Abstract

Identifies the body's relationship to time as the deepest 'subject' in Kegan's constructive-developmental theory and the somatic-temporal floor beneath every order of mind. Argues that self-authoring requires a present long enough to write in, and points beyond order 5 toward Coral (Kegan 5.5). Paper IV in the series.
