Abstract

Abstract In this work, we will give a perspective on the importance of first-principles in the era of AI and ML, as well as showcase real case studies with industrial collaborators that make the value of a hybrid approach apparent. The first case study shows multiple examples of hybrid modeling applied to polymer production processes. The second case study focuses on the modeling of a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) process for the purposes of production planning optimization.
