Abstract

This paper looks closely at the Hanlon emergency call using the rules of statement analysis. The goal is to see how unusual word choices and an uneven story structure can reveal what the caller is really thinking or hiding. By breaking down the call, this study finds major imbalances in how the story is told. For example, the caller spends too much time on less important details, skips pronouns, switches verb tenses, and uses strange phrases. These linguistic patterns act as red flags that often point to deception, emotional distance, or missing facts. The study proves that looking at how an emergency call is built can give police and investigators valuable clues that standard interviews might miss.
