Corporate Sustainability and Financial Performance: The Role of Eco-Friendly Product Lines
Abstract
The paradigm of international trade has drastically changed in favor of sustainable development in recent years. Stakeholders are putting more and more pressure on companies to implement green practices as environmental degradation becomes a major worldwide problem. This conceptual paper examines the complex relationship between corporate financial performance and corporate sustainability, particularly as it relates to the creation and marketing of eco-friendly product lines. This paper presents a conceptual framework that illustrates how environmentally friendly products serve as a catalyst for long-term profitability by combining the Natural-Resource-Based View (NRBV) and Stakeholder Theory. Additionally, the study emphasizes how "Green Accounting" plays a crucial mediating function in accurately capturing environmental costs and benefits that are sometimes overlooked by regular accounting methods. According to the conceptual model, the long-term effects on income generation, cost reduction, and risk mitigation are mainly positive, even though short-term R&D and transitional expenses may increase. This study has practical consequences for business managers and policymakers, as well as theoretical claims that open the door for further empirical research.
