Reading Pleasures

Abstract
Abstract Avid readers, and of course English majors, find great pleasure and even joy in reading. They love to experience the worlds presented to them, even in reading materials that are not fiction, poetry, or other literary texts. This article suggests that readers derive pleasure from the exercise of skills they have developed as long-term readers and as members of literary and other humanistic disciplines. These skills help them navigate environments as well as read texts.
