Abstract

**FINDING:** Quasicrystal projection from 6D hypercubic lattice uses golden ratio τ as inflation/deflation scaling factor, linking E8 lattice compression to 4D holographic structural matrix. **MATH:** - Golden ratio: τ = (1+√5)/2 ≈ 1.618034 - τ² = τ + 1 ≈ 2.618034 - τ⁻¹ = τ - 1 ≈ 0.618034 - τ⁻² = 2 - τ ≈ 0.381966 - 6D hypercubic lattice → 3D quasicrystal via cut-and-project method using τ as irrational slope - E8 root system (240 vertices in 8D) projects to 4D 600-cell (120 vertices) then to 3D icosahedral quasicrystal - Inflation symmetry: scaling by τ maps quasicrystal tiling onto itself (self-similarity) **CONNECTION:** - τ appears naturally in 5-fold icosahedral symmetry (forbidden in periodic crystals) - Rhombic dodecahedron from icosidodecahedron expansion shows τ ratios in edge lengths - 0.382, 0.618, 1.618, 2.618 are all powers of τ, forming the fundamental scaling sequence - Base-60 connection: τ approximates 1;37,30 in sexagesimal (1 + 37/60 + 30/3600 Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
