Toward an Ordinary Living Architecture: Developing the Design of Living Systems

Abstract

A short position essay on living architecture. Building with living matter has been demonstrated to work, yet living architecture remains largely a matter of a few pioneers' individual works. This essay argues that what stands between the singular case and the ordinary is the maturity of living-system design itself, and that developing that design is the decisive step for the field's coming of age.
