Preparation-Dependent Structure and Selective Hydrogenation Performance of Pt Nanoparticles Supported on Low-Dimensional Carbon Materials

Open access0 citations

Abstract

This preprint investigates the influence of preparation methodology on the structure, dispersion, and catalytic performance of platinum nanoparticles supported on low-dimensional carbon materials. Platinum nanoparticles were deposited on graphene oxide derivatives and activated carbon using wet impregnation and microwave-assisted impregnation approaches. Comprehensive structural characterization including TEM, EDS, XRD, XPS, and XRF was correlated with catalytic performance in the selective hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde. The results demonstrate that synthesis strategy strongly affects nanoparticle morphology, metal-support interactions, catalytic conversion, and product selectivity, providing guidance for the design of carbon-supported noble-metal catalysts.
