Comparison and Reliability of Inertial Sensor-Based Gait Data Acquisition Across Three Shank-Mounted Smartphone Configurations in Older Adults
Abstract
About the Project This dataset was collected within the Spine Interactive project. The aim was to examine whether IMU time series recorded with three different smartphones are comparable during 2-minute treadmill walking trials in older adults. The devices were an iPhone 15 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, and Sony Xperia 10 V. Data were recorded at 100 Hz at three predefined walking speeds (0.40 m/s, 0.93 m/s, and 1.20 m/s). The smartphones were mounted laterally on the right shank, and tri-axial accelerometer and gyroscope signals were collected. This folder contains both the raw data and the corresponding analysis procedures. Usage The file analyze.R provides the R code used to read and preprocess the raw files and to calculate the Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) distance. The computations were performed on the HPC18 cluster of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, and relevant output files were stored in /temp/*. The file summarize_concordance.R is used to analyze the DTW output.
