New review links higher nut intake with lower hypertension risk
Researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies on nut intake and hypertension risk. They found that higher nut consumption was associated with a lower risk of hypertension, including a comparison of the highest versus lowest intake groups. Because the underlying evidence comes from observational studies, the findings show an association, not guaranteed causation.
