Intracranial Aneurysms: Treatment and Complications

Review finds timing of aneurysm repair and recovery remains uncertain

This systematic review examined 20 reports involving 11,096 adult records with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, a type of bleeding around the brain caused by a ruptured aneurysm. Earlier aneurysm securement was associated with less bleeding before treatment, but the review found no consistent independent link between treatment timing and later disability or death. The evidence was very uncertain and does not establish a preferred treatment window.
