Study links NFS1 protein to tumor behavior in osteosarcoma

Researchers combined analyses of osteosarcoma tissue and single-cell data with experiments in cancer cell lines to examine the role of the NFS1 protein. Higher NFS1 levels were associated with metastatic disease and poorer overall survival, while laboratory experiments linked NFS1 to cancer-cell growth, movement, invasion, and resistance to ferroptosis. These findings are preclinical and do not show that NFS1-targeted treatments help patients.
