Harnessing genotype × environment interactions and multi-trait selection indices to identify nutritionally superior pearl millet accessions from global PMiGAP germplasm

Abstract Background Pearl millet is a climate-resilient and nutrient-dense cereal with immense potential to alleviate micronutrient malnutrition. However, the development of nutritionally superior and stable cultivars is challenged by the complex inheritance of nutritional traits...

Integration of multi-trait stability indices for selection of nutrient-dense and yield-stable pearl millet genotypes across environments

Abstract Addressing micronutrient malnutrition through pearl millet biofortification remains challenging because of complex trait interactions, anti-nutritional factors, and genotype × environment interactions. This study comparatively evaluated four multi-trait selection indices...

Environment-specific selection of pearl millet genotypes by using an integrated MGIDI–WAASB framework across a global pearl millet diversity panel

Context Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) is a key dryland staple crop suffering significant yield losses under heat and drought stress. Both marginal and productive ecologies of pearl millet cultivation require distinct ideotypes for breeding, whereas strong genotype × enviro...
