A Replayed Agent Memory Summary Keeps More Sessions on a Temporary Fallback Than the Run Log Does

Coding agents rewrite past runs into a memory summary that later sessions act on. This paper shows, in an adapted replay of the memory pipeline of OpenAI's open-source Codex agent at a pinned commit, that the default (v1) summary keeps more sessions on a temporary fallback than a...

Plan Pointers and Record-Directive Form in Budgeted Verification of Inherited Agent Memory

Abstract. A model that inherits one-line memories may pull one archived source record before acting; a directive in the store can steer that pull: a pointer, a criterion, or both. Across sixteen registered studies (179,352 attempts) we measured where the request goes under each f...

When Stale Constraints Go Unchecked: Budgeted Verification Failures in Inherited Agent Memory

Abstract. Provenance links keep the evidence behind an inherited belief reachable; an agent with a verification budget must still choose which links to inspect. We study a consolidated memory that states a decision constraint and whose source record has since been superseded by a...

Verification Goes Where the Agent Is Already Looking: Intent-Aligned Triage of Inherited Memory Under Budget

A long-horizon agent inherits organizational memory it did not write. Giving every record a provenance link does not make that memory safe: an agent holding hundreds of inherited beliefs can follow only a few links before it acts, so the reliability question is not whether proven...
