A randomized, controlled experimental medicine study of the novel Kv7 channel opener azetukalner in individuals with major depressive disorder and anhedonia

Abstract Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a common and debilitating disease. Kv7 potassium channels are relevant to reward processing and represent a novel target for depression and anhedonia. Azetukalner is a positive allosteric modulator of Kv7 channels. This phase II, random...

Targeting the dopaminergic midbrain with precision 7-Tesla biofeedback training in depression: A proof-of-principle randomized controlled trial

Abstract The significant heterogeneity of major depressive disorder (MDD) requires the development of interventions that directly target underlying cognitive or neurobiological mechanisms. This work tested the efficacy of self-modulation of the dopaminergic midbrain with high-fie...

Functional connectivity of the locus coeruleus in anxiety and posttraumatic stress disorder reveals convergent mapping to the cingulate cortex and insula using ultra-high field 7 Tesla MRI

Abstract Cortical and subcortical correlates of anxiety and stress disorders have been well defined over recent decades. However, the role of the locus coeruleus (LC), which is responsible for synthesizing and releasing a majority of the brains’ norepinephrine, has been less wide...
